Second Life

So what is Second Life? Well as its title suggests its an alternate 'life'. To put it simply one creates an avatar and enters over 100 square miles of world. And then... whatever the player wishes to do - think of it as like an MMO 'Sims' but even less restrictive. The entire world is created by the participants, whom create objects, script things to work and even create textures. For more information, visit the Second Life Website.
I've been playing since 2005 on an avatar called Raketh Xingjian (pictured above) - unfortunately you're forced to choose from a list of last names. It took a while for me to find something to do in game, but eventually settled on 'virtual construction' after teaching myself how to build. With previous experience in 3DS Max, Blender 3D, various game level editors and reasonable Photoshop CS2 abilities, it turned out to be somewhat successful.
To start with I began making very basic sheds and structures and handed them out for free if anyone wanted one. As time went on I began to get a lot better building in Second Life, and started to charge for more complex pre-fab builds - eventually growing confident enough to offer complete custom structures. Even buying, developing and then and selling entire plots of land!
Unfortunately due to the high player turnover in the game, a lot of my work simply vanishes as land changes owners or when players leave. What's in Second Life this month may not be there the next...
...but at least it keeps me in business!
In-Game Services

Construction includes any physical structure, such as a house or club, but please note I am unable to script in LSL. This means if you want something like a door that slides open when touched (as an example), you'll have to find the script for me to insert into the object - or just do it yourself later.
What I can build can be limited by time constraints imposed by the customer, other projects on the go, or amount of work in real life. What can be done can only be decided on a case by case basis. There is no set price for a structure, however cost will be determined primarily by:
Complexity
Size
If textures need to be made / found and uploaded
If you want me to keep a backup copy in inventory - just in case you delete
or irreversibly alter yours. Think of it as insurance. Standard fee is L$100.
Not taking this option means after completing the work, your project will be
purged from my inventory.
Time constraints. If you want me to build something within a few days, or
urgently, it'll be more costly than something that has a long timeframe.
Alterations. 7 days after completion you may contact me free of charge to
adjust what I've built if somethings not working how you wanted. This is
within reason of course - don't expect me to rebuild everything from scratch.
Any time you call me out after this will incur a fee of L$500 an hour, unless
it's something really minor like changing a texture.
As a rough guide based on previous sales, a basic two storey house with furnature and textures (including insurance) would be around L$4000 or $15. Poseballs and scripts not included.
Once a price has been worked out, I will require half the fee up front, followed by the final half upon completion. This is to ensure my time isn't wasted by those who ask for something, but then like a week into construction they refuse to pay.
The object is initially set with modify and sell disabled. Sell will always remain disabled, however the modify will be enabled upon request. Just note that any changes you make are at your own risk.
If you require my services, contact Raketh Xingjian ingame, or send me an e-mail so we can discuss what is needed.
I reserve the right to refuse projects.
Previous experience in:
3D Studio Max 8, 9, 2009
Maya 8, 8.5LE, 9
Blender 3D
Unreal 2004, Unreal 3 Editor
Source / Hammer
SupCom Editor
CryEngine 2
WorldEdit
Photoshop CS2 / CS3
PaintShop Pro 8
...and of course Second Life.

I can make custom textures on Photoshop CS2 if required. Mostly this is for buildings and inanimate objects (so no avatar skins). Textures come in 512x512, 1024x1024 or 2048x2048 to fit Second Lifes scaling system.
The complexity, resolution, and time it takes to make determines the cost. Generally they fall somewhere around the L$200 area for 1024x1024 ones, up to L$350 for high resolution textures - this includes the L$10 upload fee. If more than one texture is required, then I can do a package deal that will work out cheaper per texture.
Example of some textures made:
CCTV Sign
Concrete Slabs Floor (Shrunk from 1024x1024)
LED Train Station Sign
A4 Infection Poster
Spar Shop Front
Satirical MySpace Advert
Satirical Apple Advert - iWave

I currently use SAM Broadcaster, a powerful online radio/DJ application. It can be set up with pre-determined playlists, have tracks added in on the fly, multiple fading and sound effects, and of course supports use of microphones.
Currently have about 20Gb of music files available (mostly dance/trance, rock and chillout/new age), and if nothing there is to your taste it's not a problem to get hold of some more so long as you let me know in advance. I am open to porviding music to clubs, private parties, bars, or simply providing some background music for events.
Most of the time there is no fee for doing DJing, but there are conditions:
YOU provide the server or location to send the music.
Enable land setting options, or add me to staff temporarily in order to let me
place a tip jar on the ground.
Minimum of L$1000 or items of similar value if you want to to do some sort
of competition (e.g. 'Guess the artist'). The money is used for prizes.
Assuming of course you want a competition - it's optional. Just don't expect
me to run a quiz or something and then fund prizes from my own pocket.
Inconvenient hours will incur a charge of L$300 an hour. I need to sleep /
work too you know, so asking me to DJ at 4 or 5AM (GMT) ain't gonna be
free.
I reserve the right to cancel or refuse work due to real life commitments
(such as work).
If you like my work, I am open to regular employment. Agreements to which
will be made individually.
